Inviting Team Members
Add teammates to your database connections in a few simple steps.
Prerequisites
- You must be the owner of the connection
- You need the email address of the person you're inviting
- The invitee needs a Simpl account (they can create one when accepting)
Sending an Invitation
1. Open the Team Panel
From any table view in your connection, look for the Manage Team button in the sidebar. Click it to open the team management panel.
2. Enter Email Address
Type the email address of the person you want to invite. This should be the email they use (or will use) for their Simpl account.
3. Select Permission Level
Choose the appropriate access level:

4. Send the Invitation
Click Send Invite. The invitee will receive an email with instructions to join.
Invitation Email
The invitation email includes:
- Your name (as the inviter)
- The connection name
- The permission level granted
- A secure link to accept the invitation
The link is unique and expires after 7 days.
Managing Pending Invitations
View Pending Invites
The team panel shows all pending invitations with:
- The invitee's email
- The permission level
- When it was sent
- Expiration status
Resend an Invitation
If an invitation expired or the email wasn't received, click Resend to send a fresh invitation. This generates a new secure link with a new 7-day expiration.
Revoke an Invitation
Changed your mind? Click Revoke to cancel a pending invitation. The link will no longer work.
After Acceptance
Once someone accepts your invitation:
- They appear in the team members list (no longer pending)
- They can immediately access the connection
- You can change their permission level at any time
Managing Team Members
Change Permissions
To change a member's access level:
- Find them in the team members list
- Use the permission dropdown to select a new level
- Changes take effect immediately
Remove a Member
To revoke someone's access:
- Find them in the team members list
- Click the Remove button
- Confirm the removal
They lose access immediately and the connection disappears from their dashboard.
Limits and Considerations
Invitation Expiration
Invitations expire after 7 days. If not accepted in time, you'll need to resend.
Email Matching
The invitee must accept using the same email address the invitation was sent to. If they sign in with a different email, they'll see an error.
One Invitation Per Email
You can only have one pending invitation per email address per connection. Resending replaces the previous invitation.
Troubleshooting
"Invitation Expired" Error
The 7-day window has passed. Go to the team panel and click Resend to send a fresh invitation.
"Email Doesn't Match" Error
The person is signed in with a different email than the invitation was sent to. They should:
- Sign out
- Sign in with the correct email address
- Or request a new invitation to their preferred email
Invitee Not Receiving Email
- Check their spam/junk folder
- Verify the email address is correct
- Try resending the invitation
- Have them add your email to their contacts
